Backups

Current options for storing backups on Fornex servers.

Storing backups on the same disk as your primary data is risky: if the disk fails or data is accidentally deleted, both the data and its backups can be lost. External storage lets you recover your data regardless of the state of the primary disk.

VPS backups

To create and manage VPS backups through your control panel, use the built-in snapshot tool — see VPS backups & snapshots → for details.

S3 object storage

For storing backups and other data, we recommend S3 storage — a modern object storage solution based on the S3-compatible API. It's suitable for storing any kind of digital data: documents, archives, disk images, and more.

The storage runs on Enterprise-class drives and is connected to the switch via a dedicated 10 Gbps port. Data is kept on separate dedicated servers. Detailed guide — Managing your S3 Storage →

The legacy external backup disk service (FTP storage) is no longer available for new orders. Existing customers can continue using it until their order expires.
