Guide to Installing and Managing CMS in cPanel Control Panel
Softaculous is a convenient tool in cPanel that allows you to install, clone, edit, or delete popular content management systems (CMS) such as WordPress, Joomla, Laravel, MODX, PrestaShop, OpenCart, and Drupal with just one click.
Installation
Log in to cPanel, go to the Fornex Manager section, and select the CMS you want, for example, WordPress.
Click "Install".
On the installation page, you can:
- Select the domain for which the CMS will be installed.
- Specify the protocol.
- Configure the admin account.
- Set site settings.
- Choose the site language.
- Install additional plugins and themes.
You can also configure Advanced Settings:
- The database name, if the auto-generated one is not suitable.
- Set auto-update preferences for the CMS, plugins, and themes.
Click Install.
This completes the installation.
Note
Save the admin credentials in a secure place to avoid losing access to the site.
Cloning
Log in to cPanel, go to the Software section – WordPress Manager.
Select All Installations.
From the list of installed scripts, find the desired domain and click Clone.
On the cloning page:
- Specify the URL for the new copy of the site.
- If needed, set the site name and disable search engine indexing.
Note
If you're cloning the installation to the domain's root directory, leave the Directory field empty.
Click Clone Installation.
Editing
Log in to cPanel, go to the Software section – WordPress Manager.
Select All Installations.
From the list of installed scripts, find the desired domain and click Edit.
In the Edit Installation Details section, you can:
- Change the installation directory (e.g., move the site from
/blog
to the root). - Update the site URL.
- Modify database settings.
- Enable or disable auto-updates for the CMS, plugins, or themes.
- Update admin credentials.
- Add or remove plugins and themes.
Click Save Installation Details to apply the changes.
Note
Before editing the database, create a backup to avoid data loss.
Deletion
Warning
Deletion will completely remove the CMS and all related files. Be cautious, as this action is irreversible.
Log in to cPanel, go to the Software section – WordPress Manager.
Select All Installations.
From the list of installed scripts, find the desired domain and click Remove.
On the removal page, select which data to delete (e.g., site files, database, database user).
Click Remove Installation.
Warning
Be sure to create a backup before deletion if you want to keep the site's data.
