Installing Chrome Browser on a Windows Server

Instructions on how to disable IE enhanced security extensions and how to install Chrome

Note

Windows Server is available for installation on all VPS and dedicated server plans. You can find more information here and here.

To install a browser on your server, you first need to disable Internet Explorer Enhanced Security Configuration.

Warning

Internet Explorer Enhanced Security Configuration helps protect your system and browser from potential attacks via web content and scripts. As a result, some websites may not display or function correctly.

To do this, follow these steps:

  1. Click Start and open Server Manager.

  1. Select Local Server and follow the instructions in the screenshots below to disable Internet Explorer Enhanced Security Configuration.

  1. Check the appropriate options and save the changes.

After completing these steps, open Internet Explorer.

You will see a security warning window.

Go to this link to download Google Chrome.

Click Download Chrome, accept the terms of service, and wait for the installer to finish downloading.

Run the installer by clicking Run, and the installation will start automatically.

The browser installation is now complete.
