Bandwidth on a dedicated server

Fair Use Policy at 1 Gbps bandwidth.

file

By default, all servers have a bandwidth of 1 Gbit/s, based on Fair Use technology.

Fair Use is a policy of hosting providers that limits the use of network resources to prevent overload and ensure fair access for all data center customers.

In practice, this means:

  • Maximum bandwidth of 1 Gbit/s is not always available.

  • With a constant load above the average, the provider may limit the speed.

  • Fair Use allows you to use the channel at full capacity in short bursts, but prevents abuse and network overload.

If the server has a 1 Gbit/s channel but Fair Use is in effect:

  • The peak speed can reach 1 Gbit/s.

  • The average speed over a long period will be lower, especially during heavy traffic.

  • The total amount of data transferred may be limited, despite the theoretical maximum.

Example: with a constant load on the server, the speed drops to the guaranteed 100 Mbps to ensure equal conditions for other customers.

Note

We can provide a guaranteed speed of up to 10 Gbps (only for the Germany location), the cost is calculated for each 1 Gbps at a cost of 250 EUR/month.
