How to Disable Internet Explorer Enhanced Security Configuration in Windows Server

Step-by-step guide to deactivating IE ESC through the Server Manager interface.

Internet Explorer Enhanced Security Configuration (IE ESC) is enabled in Windows Server by default. It protects servers from web-based attacks by setting elevated security settings for the Internet Explorer browser. However, users constantly see pop-up windows asking them to add each new URL to the browser's trusted zone.

Instructions for Disabling IE ESC

To disable this setting, connect to the server via RDP.

Press the Win+R key combination and enter the command ServerManager.

Navigate to the Local Server tab.

Next, find the IE Enhanced Security Configuration option and click on the status (by default, it shows On).

A configuration window will appear. Switch the settings to Off for both administrators and users.

Click OK.

After that, you'll see that the enhanced security configuration status has changed to Off.
