Configuring the DNS server on IOS

Manual on how to change the DNS server on an IOS device

Public DNS from Google Public DNS and OpenDNS, for example, if you have:

  • Some sites stop loading.
  • Access to content is blocked for geographical reasons.
  • Your Internet Service Provider is restricting access to sites.

Google Public DNS will provide stable loading of sites. OpenDNS OpenDNS can offer advanced functionality: a built-in filter, phishing protection and a parental control function. This requires registration.

Go to the Wi-Fi settings on your device

Click on the blue circle with the letter i next to the desired connection

Then in the DNS line choose the tab "Manual → Add Server " and enter its address

For Google Public DNS it is 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 For OpenDNS it is 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220

After adding, press "Save" button.
